The postholder will lead the operational delivery of the Empower Ukraine project, ensuring effective planning, coordination, and execution of programme activities, including MOOCs, CPD delivery, stakeholder engagement, and international partnerships.

Two Research Fellow positions are available at the Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction (BSSC), for the Empower Ukraine project.

The postholder will undertake high-quality research within established programmes, with a primary focus on the ZEBAI project, contributing to the development of zero-emission buildings through advanced digital modelling, digital twins, and interdisciplinary approaches. The role involves generating new knowledge through data collection, analysis, and interpretation, supporting sustainable building design, and translating research outputs into academic publications, practical applications, and impact aligned with project and institutional objectives.

This role is full time employment with FTC for 1 year with opportunity for extension

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Collect and process research data; this may be through a variety of research methods, such as scientific experimentation, literature reviews, and research interviews from e.g., building digital twins and building monitoring
  • Interact and assist designers (Engineers and Architects) during the development of sustainable buildings relevant to the ZEBAI project delivery
  • Analyse and interpret data
  • Develop innovative digital twins for monitoring of Zero Emissions Buildings

Role summary

The role was part of the Horizon PORTAL MSCA Staff Exchanges project, focused on developing threat-agnostic resilience strategies for port–city ecosystems. The Fellow was expected to play a key role in supporting the project’s research, coordination and impact activities while working closely with Prof. Sotirios Argyroudis and a global consortium of partners.

The MetaInfrastructure research group welcomes expressions of interest for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA-PF) programme.

We are looking for outstanding postdoctoral researchers interested in developing innovative and interdisciplinary research aligned with the themes of MetaInfrastructure, including resilient and sustainable infrastructure systems, critical infrastructure resilience, climate adaptation, digital twins, AI and data-driven infrastructure management, smart sensing, infrastructure interdependencies, transport systems, post-disaster and post-conflict recovery, and sustainability transitions.

Applicants must hold a PhD at the time of the MSCA-PF deadline and have a maximum of eight years of postdoctoral research experience, in line with MSCA eligibility rules and comply with the MSCA mobility rule.

Main duties

Role summary

The role involved managing the “Empower Ukraine” project within the School of Engineering and contributing to larger University-wide projects as part of the School of Engineering Professional Services staff. Key responsibilities

  • Maintain liaison with the Ministry of Restoration to understand needs and ensure alignment.
  • Pursue accessibility and engagement with Ukrainian Professional Engineering Bodies.

  • Organise workshops and support stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Manage social media and outreach activities.
